Explore the competitive landscape of gaming through esports. Utilize critical thinking, reasoning and the social and emotional learning impacts of esports on youth.  Evaluate the criteria to obtain college scholarships and  professional sponsorship in esports and gaming.

Required items: 

  • Nintendo Switch
  • Online Nintendo Account

Sessions:

  • MOBA’s 4 one week sessions – (Mass Online Battle Arena’s. Free Pokemon Unite download necessary) 
  • Battle Royales 3 one week sessions – (Free Fortnite download necessary)
  • Online Personas – 1 week session (class addresses developing online persona via social media)

Explore the creative component that work towards creating stunning websites via WordPress. 

Sessions:

  • Domain Names and hosting for public websites 
  • Graphic design and image creation for websites
  • Flow and design of elements.
  • HTML and advanced coding for WordPress

Dive in to the creative process of digital graphic design. Enhance your talents for online graphic production, print design and more! (classes will be taught via Photoshop with Canva as a substitute)

  • Basic tools of the trade.
  • Editing photos/images
  • Typography
  • Visual Interpretation

Step out into the cutting edge field of App Design. Create basic and higher level applications for both personal computer and mobile use. (Class will utilize Google’s Flutterflow platform)

  • App Concept creation
  • Basic App functions
  • Responsiveness for PC/Mobile
  • Database Functionality
  • Android and Apple publishing

Delve into the prevalent world of technology and explore safe practices for digital devices.

Sessions:

Media Literacy: Evaluate information found online and check for legitimacy.

Online Safety: Explore potential threats online and how to keep your information and yourself safe.

Digital Rights: Learn the differences of copyrighted content and open source content and proper citation and crediting.

Social Media Safety: Discover the risks with inappropriate content, cyberbullying and social media addiction.

 

 

Each class is offered via a 1 hour block. Different classes may have certain technology requirements. Classes are intended as entry level educational material towards the subject they represent.

About our instructor: 

Mr. Early is a certified information technology instructor with the Hernando County School District. He has over 8 years experience in teaching and was named 2020 District Teacher of the Year, 2021 Full Sail University Extraordinary Educator and served as K-12 Computer Science Specialist for the Florida Department of Education. He specializes in IT, computer science and cyber security. He has mentored Congressional App Challenge winners, Skills USA national qualifiers, Air Force Association/Nasa Stellar Xplorer semifinalists and numerous state and local hackathon winners
